The Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Board will meet on 27 January 2022 at 21:00 UTC to begin its formal consultation on the detailed findings of the System for Standardized Access/Disclosure (SSAD) Operational Design Phase (ODP). The meeting is open to observers.
The GNSO Council requested this consultation as a follow-up to its initial discussions with the Board held at the beginning of the ODP. During this consultation, the Board and GNSO Council are expected to consider the financial sustainability of the SSAD and share their perspectives regarding the Operational Design Assessment (ODA), the detailed analysis and final product of the SSAD ODP.
The dialogue between the GNSO Council and the Board is expected to continue after the publication of the ODA, which is scheduled to be published next week.

About the SSAD
The SSAD is a mechanism proposed to centralize requests for nonpublic registration data outlined in Recommendations 1-18 of the Final Report of the GNSO EPDP on the Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data Phase 2. Due to the resource investment and complexity that would likely be required to implement the SSAD-related policy recommendations in a timely and predictable manner, the ICANN Board requested an ODP to inform its deliberations, including whether the recommendations are in the best interests of the ICANN community or ICANN.
